I interact with many people who don't know the first thing about technology that they rely upon heavily.
I'm not saying that you should be able to rebuild the transmission in your car, but you should understand that it requires coolant, oil and electricity to function and know where to check the oil and engine coolant levels as well as determine if your battery or alternator may be malfunctioning.
Similarly, you should have a basic understanding of any mission critical technology you utilize.
We can't know everything about all of our tools, but we should know some basic fixes like when a simple power cycle may be in order. Or, in contrast, to when it's time to bring in the expert.
